1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") cover your use of drywall101.com and its pages, articles, videos, free calculators, and related features (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The Site is free to use and is supported by advertising.
Drywall 101 Pro is separate. Drywall 101 Pro, our paid app for construction companies, has its own Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy. Those documents (not these Terms) govern your Pro subscription and your use of the Pro app.
2. Content is general information, not professional advice
Drywall 101 has published construction how-to content since 2010. Everything on the Site, including articles, videos, photos, tips, and calculators, is general educational information only.
- Not professional advice. Our content is not engineering, architectural, legal, code-compliance, or other professional advice. It does not replace a licensed contractor, building inspector, or other qualified professional who can see your specific job.
- Follow codes, instructions, and safety rules. Always follow your local building codes and permit requirements, the manufacturer's instructions for every product you use, and safe work practices. These include, but are not limited to, proper ladders and scaffolding, eye, dust, and respiratory protection, and safe handling of tools, electrical, and anything that may contain asbestos or lead in older buildings. If our content conflicts with a code or a manufacturer's instructions, the code and the manufacturer's instructions control.
- You are responsible for your work. You decide whether and how to use any technique, material, or tool. You are solely responsible for your own work, your results, your safety, and the safety of others on your job.
- Calculators are estimates only. Our free calculators give rough estimates based on the numbers you enter and on general assumptions. They can be wrong or incomplete and do not account for every job condition, waste factor, or product difference. Double-check results before you buy materials, bid a job, or start work.
- No endorsement. Mentioning a product, brand, technique, or tool is not a guarantee or endorsement unless we clearly say so.
We try to keep the Site accurate and up to date, but we do not promise that every piece of content is complete, current, or error-free.
3. "As is" disclaimer
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, CALCULATORS, AND FEATURES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not promise that the Site will always be available, secure, or free of errors, viruses, or interruptions.
4. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW:
- JD Northern LLC and its owner, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any property damage, personal injury, lost profits, lost data, or costs of materials or rework, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Site, its content, or its calculators, even if we were told such damages were possible.
- Because the Site is free, our total liability for any claim related to the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).
Some states do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations. In those states, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.
5. Who may use the Site
The Site is intended for a general adult audience in the United States. It is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 18 to create an account or join the Drywall 101 Pro waitlist. Visitors from outside the United States use the Site at their own initiative and are responsible for following their local laws.
6. Optional accounts
We may add optional free accounts, for example so you can save calculator results. If you create an account:
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us right away at techsupport@drywall101.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can stop using your account at any time and ask us to delete it (see our Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, are inactive for a long time, or put the Site or other users at risk. We may also change or discontinue account features. We are not responsible for loss of saved calculator results or other saved data, so keep your own copy of anything important.
A free drywall101.com account is not a Drywall 101 Pro subscription.
7. Intellectual property and limited personal use
The Site and its content, including text, articles, videos, photos, illustrations, calculators, software, design, and the "Drywall 101" name and logos, are owned by JD Northern LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
What you may do: View, read, and use the Site and calculators for your own personal, non-commercial use or for planning your own jobs. You may print or save a reasonable number of pages for that purpose, as long as you keep any copyright notices. You may share a link to a page.
What you may not do without our written permission:
- Republish, copy, or distribute our content on another website, app, social channel, book, course, or other medium
- Sell, rent, license, or sub-license our content
- Use our content, calculators, or brand for commercial purposes, or suggest that we endorse you
- Remove or change copyright or other notices

8. Acceptable use
When using the Site, you agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the Site or its content by automated means (bots, spiders, scrapers, or similar tools), including to build datasets or train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, except ordinary search-engine indexing that follows our robots.txt
- Republish or mirror our content (see Section 7)
- Copy, reverse engineer, or rebuild our calculators
- Interfere with or overload the Site, or try to get around security or access controls
- Click on ads fraudulently, use tools to generate fake ad impressions or clicks, or encourage anyone else to do so
- Upload or post anything unlawful, harmful, misleading, infringing, harassing, or spam
- Pose as another person or misrepresent your affiliation
- Use the Site in a way that breaks any law
We may block access, remove content, or close accounts if we believe these rules have been broken.
9. Comments and user submissions
The Site may now or later let you post comments or questions, send photos or feedback, or submit other content ("Submissions"). If it does:
- You keep ownership of your Submissions.
- You give JD Northern LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, host, display, reproduce, edit, adapt, and publish your Submissions in connection with the Site, our YouTube channel, our social media pages, and our other Drywall 101 products.
- You confirm that you have the right to share the Submission and that it does not violate anyone's rights or any law.
- Do not include private information (yours or anyone else's) in public Submissions.
- We may review, edit, decline, or remove any Submission at our discretion. We do not have to post or keep any Submission.
- If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Third-party links, videos, and ads
Ads. The Site shows ads served by Google AdSense and possibly other ad partners. Advertisers and their products are not affiliated with or endorsed by us unless we clearly say so. Any dealings you have with an advertiser, including purchases, payment, delivery, and warranties, are only between you and that advertiser.
Links and embeds. The Site links to, and may embed content from, third-party sites and services such as the Drywall 101 YouTube channel and Facebook page. Those services are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
Using third-party sites, ads, and services is at your own risk.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless JD Northern LLC and its owner, employees, and agents from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from your use of the Site, your Submissions, your work or projects, or your breach of these Terms or the law.
12. Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If the changes are significant, we may also give notice on the Site or by email to account holders. If you keep using the Site after the new Terms take effect, you accept them.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about these Terms or the Site will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina, and you and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else.
14. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site and replace any earlier versions.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, sale, or reorganization. You may not assign them.
- Translations. The Site offers content in more than one language. If a translated version of these Terms conflicts with the English version, the English version controls.
