This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect on the Site, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.
Drywall 101 Pro is separate. Drywall 101 Pro, our paid app for construction companies, has its own Privacy Policy. That policy, not this one, covers information collected through the Pro app and Pro subscriptions.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information collected automatically (usage and analytics data)
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect some information, such as:
- IP address and approximate location (city, state, or country) based on it
- Browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings
- Pages and videos viewed, calculators used, links clicked, time on page, and the site or search that referred you
- Date and time of visits, plus basic error and performance logs
1.2 Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels, local storage, and device identifiers) to:
- Make the Site work, including keeping you signed in if you have an account and remembering settings like language
- Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it (analytics)
- Serve and measure ads, including personalized ads (see Section 3)
- Help prevent fraud and keep the Site secure
1.3 Optional account information
If you create an optional free account, for example to save calculator results, we collect your email address, password (stored securely), any name or profile details you choose to give, and the calculator results and settings you save.
1.4 Drywall 101 Pro waitlist emails
If you join the waitlist for Drywall 101 Pro, we collect your email address and any optional details the signup form asks for (for example, your name, your trade, or your company size).
1.5 Information you send us
If you email techsupport@drywall101.com, post a comment, or send us feedback or photos, we collect what you send and your contact details.
We do not ask for payment information on the free Site.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Run the Site: deliver pages, videos, and calculators, and run optional accounts and saved results
- Improve the Site: see which content and calculators help people and fix problems
- Show ads: ads keep the Site free (see Section 3)
- Contact waitlist members: see Section 5
- Answer you: reply to questions and support requests
- Keep things secure: prevent spam, ad fraud, abuse, and attacks
- Follow the law: meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use
3. Advertising: Google AdSense and advertising cookies
The Site is free because it shows ads. We use Google AdSense to show ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Ads you see may be personalized (based on your interests and browsing) or non-personalized (based on general factors such as the page you are on or your approximate location). Even non-personalized ads may use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and ad measurement.
- Google and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers, and browsing activity on the Site through these cookies.
To learn how Google uses this information, see Google's page "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services": https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

How to opt out of personalized ads
- Google Ads Settings: Turn off personalized ads from Google at https://adssettings.google.com (also called My Ad Center).
- Digital Advertising Alliance (aboutads.info): Opt out of personalized ads from many participating third-party vendors at https://www.aboutads.info/choices
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): Opt out of personalized ads from NAI member companies at https://optout.networkadvertising.org
- Your browser: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less personalized. Opt-outs are usually stored in a cookie, so clearing cookies or changing browsers or devices may undo them.
Other ad partners. If Google shows ads from other certified ad networks or vendors on the Site, those companies may also use cookies to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of many of them through the aboutads.info and NAI links above. A current list of ad partners is available on request at techsupport@drywall101.com.
Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before personalized-ad cookies are used, through a consent message on the Site, and you can change your choice at any time.
4. Analytics
We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which pages are popular and how people find us. These tools use cookies and collect usage data as described in Section 1.1. They give us mostly aggregated reports.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
5. Waitlist and email
If you join the Drywall 101 Pro waitlist, we will use your email only to contact you about Drywall 101 Pro and related Drywall 101 updates, such as launch news, early-access or founding offers, and important changes. We will not sell your email or give it to other companies for their marketing.
Easy unsubscribe: Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email techsupport@drywall101.com to be removed. If you unsubscribe, we may keep your email on a do-not-contact list so we honor your choice.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for money. We share information only:
- With service providers that help us run the Site, including Google Cloud for hosting, plus email and analytics tools. They may use the information only to provide services to us. A current list of our service providers is available on request.
- With advertising partners like Google, through the cookies and technologies described in Section 3.
- Through embedded content. When you watch an embedded Drywall 101 YouTube video or use a Facebook link or widget on the Site, YouTube (Google) or Meta may collect information under their own privacy policies.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law or legal process, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect the rights, safety, or property of JD Northern LLC, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer: if the Site or JD Northern LLC is sold, merged, or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner, still subject to this policy's protections.
- With your permission: when you ask us to share it.
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you.
7. Third-party sites
The Site links to third-party sites and services, including the Drywall 101 YouTube channel, the Drywall 101 Facebook page, and advertisers' sites. Their own privacy policies govern what they collect. We are not responsible for their practices.
8. How long we keep information
- Usage and analytics data: kept only as long as needed for analytics, security, and ad purposes, usually in aggregated form. Third-party tools follow their own retention settings.
- Account information and saved results: kept while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to, we delete or de-identify it within a reasonable time.
- Waitlist emails: kept until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete them, or we stop running the waitlist, except for a minimal do-not-contact record.
- Emails and messages: kept as long as needed to help you and keep reasonable records.
Some information may stay in backups for a limited time, or longer if the law requires it.
9. Your choices and deletion requests
- Cookies and ads: use your browser settings and the opt-out links in Sections 3 and 4.
- Email: unsubscribe at any time (Section 5).
- Account: update your details in your account settings when that feature is available.
- Access, correction, or deletion: email techsupport@drywall101.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act. We will respond within a reasonable time and within any deadline the law requires.
10. U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws. These may include the right to know what personal information we have about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of "targeted advertising," "sale," or "sharing" of personal information as those laws define those terms.
- We do not sell personal information for money. However, some state laws may treat the use of advertising cookies for personalized ads as "sharing" or "targeted advertising." You can opt out using the ad opt-out tools in Section 3. Where required, we will also honor browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control.
- To make a request, email techsupport@drywall101.com. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response. An authorized agent may make a request for you where the law allows.
- We will not discriminate against you for using your privacy rights.
11. Children's privacy (COPPA)
The Site is a general-audience how-to site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Accounts and the Drywall 101 Pro waitlist are for people 18 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact techsupport@drywall101.com and we will delete it.
12. Security
We use reasonable safeguards for a small website, such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections, hashed passwords, and limiting who can access data. No website is 100% secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.
13. Where information is processed
We run the Site from the United States, and our service providers, including Google Cloud, may process information in the United States or other countries. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in places with different privacy laws.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If the changes are significant, we may also post a notice on the Site or email account holders.
