How much does a 1/2" sheet of drywall weigh?
Most 1/2" drywall sold today is lightweight. The calculator uses 1.3 lb/ft² for lightweight 1/2" (published range about 1.2–1.4 depending on brand), so a 4x8 sheet is about 41.6 lb and a 4x12 about 62.4 lb. Regular 1/2" uses 1.6 lb/ft²: about 51.2 lb for a 4x8 and 76.8 lb for a 4x12.
How much does a 5/8" sheet of drywall weigh?
A 4x8 sheet of 5/8" Type X weighs about 70.4 lb, and a 4x12 about 105.6 lb (2.2 lb/ft²). Lightweight 5/8" Type X uses 1.8 lb/ft²: about 57.6 lb for a 4x8 and 86.4 lb for a 4x12.
